We practice Sundays 12:30-2:20 at Capital Aikikai, a dojo we share with Aikido and Katori Shinto Ryu groups.
Capital Aikikai is located at 923 Sligo Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Our Metro stop is Silver Spring (Red line), and we are a 10 minute walk from the station. One note: The dojo entrance is not on Sligo Avenue itself, but in the alley just north of it, off Mayor Lane.
There is ample parking directly across from the dojo entrance, in the Fenton Street Village parking garage.
Weather permitting, once a month we practice in Damascus, MD. This practice is focused on distance shooting and is only open to those who have taken first shot and attended a retreat. You are, however, welcome to observe.
Upcoming events:
Practice at Capital Aikikai March 8, 2026. This practice marks our return to training after a hiatus due to the death of Vivi Spicer, our long-time instructor. We will begin with a brief ceremony and the traditional first shot of the year. (Please be aware of the time change!)
